WAYLAND — The year has been a hard one for many across the country, but for small towns it has been brutal.

Wayland Christmas in the Village canceled this year after everyone got their hopes up for a winter festival.

Wayland American Legion has decided to brighten everyone’s spirits this holiday with their first holiday dinner to support the veterans.

Kevin Mark, Wayland American Legion post commander said it has been really hard on the legion with the new abnormal.

“I wanted to do something to lift everyone’s spirits this Christmas. We did so well with the Veterans Appreciation Dinner. We decided to do another dinner to support our local veterans,” he said. “It has been really hard on the community and legion this year.”

The Chipped Beef Gravy Dinner on Dec. 13 from noon to gone is $8 a ticket. It will be like the last dinner with a line inside to wait to collect your take-out meals. You will need to purchase a dinner ticket to get a meal. The meal comes with mashed potatoes, green beans, apple sauce, dinner rolls, and dessert.

All proceeds for the dinner will go to Wayland American Legion Veteran Charities.
